Dev<Live/> Vlog sessions approaching tech challenges discussing DevTalks "AI & Innovation Humanity Reimagined, this year happening in-person, and also continuing with 15 stages online.

Cris: My name is Cristina and I want you to meet Rafael Chinelato Del Nero, Java Champion | Book Author and Senior Software Engineer @FabFitFun. Rafael is a passionate and creative developer and you can meet him online, on the Java Stage, on the 8th of June.

Rafael: looking forward to contributing to the java community.

Cris: Let's start by letting our participants know some things about you. Can you tell us a bit more about your role, as the founder and creator of the Java challengers?

Rafael: It started in 2017, and I started to create some java code challenges (...) because it’s practical and it’s also fast (...) you learn much faster and much more effectively by doing some coding challenges (...)

My intention is to help the java developers to understand the java core features, because I know there are not easy to be mastered, in a fun way (..) so that they create high-quality code and have fewer bugs in their applications (...)

Cris: What drove you into this field and motivated you to stay along? Mentors, people in the community that help you develop your skills? Or are there other ingredients that brought you here, to this present day?

Listen to the whole interview to hear about learning by doing in technology, how important is for the community to learn and keep yourself up to date with the right job skills, and also the role that mentors play in your professional development. Also, you can learn about the way we should build more standards and patterns with microservices, containers, automation, artificial intelligence, and how to secure apps, and about the danger of staying in your comfort zone and not learning new techniques or new programming languages.

Cris: Can you tell us 3 interesting things about JAVA?

Rafael:

1. The Java Community (share knowledge, networking, create friends, real connections, learn from other speakers),

2.  You can find thousand of libraries with open source code/tools for free and you can also contribute, to your career.

3. Java is very steady, reliable and secure, with more than 20 years, and is a programming language that is still in the market and it will be here with us.

Conclusion:

  • Learn constantly, create a plan to study for 15/ 30 minutes per day,
  • Integrate new concepts into old concepts, because the more you learn the easy it gates to learn something new,
  • Create something that is fun for you, use the Just in time learning technique.
