This talk looks at a common belief in tech teams: that projects fail or are late because there are not enough good engineers. While strong engineering skills are important, they are often not the main reason delivery is slow or difficult.  The talk explains how delivery problems usually come from the environment around the team. This includes things like changing priorities, work that depends on other teams, slow feedback, and technical debt built over time when short‑term fixes are chosen instead of long‑term solutions. The session also introduces simple ideas from systems thinking, such as how company structure can affect the way systems are built and how fast teams can deliver. One example is Conway’s Law, which shows the link between how teams are organized and the software they create. The goal of the talk is to help people better understand what really impacts delivery, and how teams and organizations can create better conditions for success, not just better code.  Read More...
