Compromising Positions
When you follow the cables, behind every piece of tech is a person, consumer and creator, and we should never lose sight of this.
Lianne is an award-winning digital anthropologist whose work sits at the intersection of AI, security, and human behaviour. Known for her research into the cultural, ethical, and social impacts of artificial intelligence, she brings a rare combination of anthropological insight and hands-on technical expertise.
Alongside her research, Lianne works in cybersecurity as a security transformation leader, where she designs and matures resilient Security Operations functions. She has built modern SecOps capabilities from the ground up, including leading security for Europe’s largest greenfield technology transformation in retail, translating human-centred research into practical, operational security outcomes.
An international keynote speaker for both technical and academic audiences, Lianne explores how people relate to intelligent systems, risk, and power. Her background as a security-focused software developer and practising anthropologist allows her to bridge disciplines often kept apart: theory and engineering, culture and code. She has received multiple industry honours including Security Specialist of the Year, Security Leader of the Year, and Cybersecurity Personality of the Year.
She is currently completing an MSc in AI and Data Science, with research focused on AI safety, alignment, and security risks.
She hosts the award-winning podcast Compromising Positions, where she examines cybersecurity culture through conversations with anthropologists, psychologists, and behavioural scientists.
