Get to Know Bobur Umurzokov, DevRel Manager at Neon

Bobur Umurzokov joins the QA & Testing Stage on June 5th for the 12th edition of DevTalks Romania. Curious to know more about our speaker? We asked him a few questions, so continue reading to get to know Bobur.

1. Can you introduce yourself in a few words? 

I’m Bobur — DevRel guy, ex-Microsoft, founder of a DevRel consultancy, and possibly the only person who packs stickers before socks when traveling to tech events. 

2. What is the favourite part of your job? 

I love helping developers discover new tools and making sure they get real value from them. 

3. How has the industry changed in the last 5 years? 

AI and cloud tools have grown fast. More developers are working remotely and building things quicker than ever. 

4. If you had to sum up your career in one sentence, what would you say? 

I've spent my career connecting developers with great tools and helping them grow. 

5. If you could invent any piece of technology that doesn't currently exist, what would it be and why? 

I’d create a device that lets you read other people's thoughts instantly. This could help to build a strong relationship. 

6. What has been your favorite event of the last year so far and why? 

My favorite event this past year was the Microsoft MVP Summit 2025. It was an incredible experience where I connected with fellow MVPs and Microsoft teams, attended deep technical sessions, and got a glimpse into upcoming innovations. 

7. How do you see the role of AI evolving in your field over the next few years? 

AI will help Developer Relations work smarter — writing content, answering community questions, and building showcasing tools faster. 

8. What’s a project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of? 

Building the first DevRel consultancy in Europe — it helped many companies at different scales to build awareness, drive adoption, and engage with the community for developer-targeted products 

9. If you could time-travel to any point in history with a piece of modern technology, where would you go and what would you bring? 

I’d go back to the 90s with a smartphone and show people you can take photos, write articles, and publish them instantly from anywhere. I’d start a blog about “future life,” post about flat TVs and self-parking cars, and become the most popular blogger before blogging was even a thing! 

10. If you could switch careers with anyone for a day, who would it be and why? 

I’d switch careers with the president of a country for a day — just to see what it’s like to make big decisions, give important speeches, and maybe sneak in a law that engineers have a global passport without any visa restrictions! 

11. What is your message for our Romania IT community? 

Keep building, keep sharing, and never stop learning. The world needs your ideas!
