Speakers’ thoughts on DevTalks Cluj 2017 – part 2

17 April 2018 devTalks

We are happy to see every year this cool community of IT professionals willing to share their experience and make the best out of a great networking opportunity and sessions of awesome talks. Because, indeed, you don’t need to go to London or San Francisco to succeed when you have such a powerful community around you.

Let’s welcome Luke Briner, CTO PixelPin, Ciprian Costa, CTO hipMenu & Alex Moldovan, JavaScript Ninja @ Fortech and see what they’ve prepared for DevTalks Cluj-Napoca!

  • Why did you accept to join us in 2017 at DevTalks Romania?

Luke: I accepted because I am really excited to see a lively and large group of Developers creating an eco-system in their own country and the countries nearby! You don’t need to go to London or San Francisco to succeed!

Ciprian: It is my first participation to the conference as a speaker and I accepted the invitation because I think the local IT scene needs more events like this where we can get to know each other and what is going on in the local environment and at a larger scale. Looking forward to contributing a little bit in the right direction.

Alex: DevTalks is one of the few events that gather so many specialists from different areas under a single roof. I’m here to represent Cluj and our JS community. 2016 was a very pleasant experience, so I’m sure 2017 will be even better.

  • What are your expectations for this edition? How do you think DevTalks will surprise you in 2017?

Luke: This is my first visit but I expect to see lots of energy and ideas. I have high expectations but I hope to be even more surprised by the quality and output of all of the Developers at the event.

Ciprian: I expect to engage in a meaningful exchange with the participants from the panel where I will be speaking. Hopefully, the experience we gathered at hipMenu by conquering most of the local market will prove helpful to others. Also, I am certain that knowing what others do will help us at hipMenu as well.

Alex: A bigger venue means more people, more discussions and overall a better experience for speakers, attendees and organizers.

  • What is the topic that you will approach about?

Luke: I will be talking about the importance of Authentication and why OpenID Connect is currently the best choice for this.

Ciprian: I will be part of a panel discussing marketing in the mobile world. We at hipMenu put a great deal of effort into building our apps and we tracked closely how and why users get on the platform, how much they stay, when and why they leave. Besides this, we are strong believers that everything is about the product, so we try to look at all processes (including marketing) from this perspective and I am eager to advocate for this approach.

Alex: My talk focuses on the developer experience behind next.js, a small framework built on top of react.js. I’m trying to address one of the pains of developing web application in today’s context, i.e. project setup and configuration.

Can’t wait to see all these great talks!
